Silk screen printing is a stencil method of print making in which a design is imposed on a screen of polyester or other fine mesh, with blank areas coated with an impermeable substance. Ink is forced into the mesh openings by the fill blade or squeege and by wetting the substrate, transferred onto the printing surface during the squeegee stroke. As the screen rebounds away from the substrate the ink remains on the substrate. This technic allows fine details printing.
The multi layers silk screen sets from Moïko allow you to create more complex and rich patterns, by the number of patterns which are partially going to overlay and by the variety of colors choosen for each step.
You just have to spread the color through the first screen and to let it dry, then to place the second screen thanks to the landmarks in the corners, to colorate it and to continue the same way with the others screens (if there are more than 2)
If several silk screens get stuck together do not pull them apart. Soak them in water for a few minutes until they come apart.
Silk screens should be treated with great care and gentleness to preserve their patterns as long as possible.
As part of an ecological approach, Moïko brand does no more pack their screens in a plastic bag. PolyStudio shop supports this initiative and will now deliver the screens in a recycled paper sheet. Thanks for your confidence.
